HORNETS TAPPED TO FINISH FOURTH IN 2021 MEAC FOOTBALL POLL

Norfolk, Va. (July 30, 2021) --- Delaware State will have plenty to prove in the 2021 Mid-Eastern Athletic football race.
The Hornets have been picked to finish fourth in the six-team 2021 conference standings in the annual MEAC preseason grid poll, presented by The Home Depot.
DSU received one first place vote and 56 total points in the poll of league head coaches and sports information representatives announced during the annual MEAC Football Media Day.

South Carolina State is the voters' choice to win the 2021 MEAC title and represent the conference in the annual Celebration Bowl against the champion of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). SC State collected five of a possible 12 first place votes and 118 total points.
Norfolk State is second in the poll with two first place votes and 96 points, while North Carolina Central is third with two first place votes 78 points.
Morgan State and Howard are picked to finish fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 2021 preseason MEAC preseason balloting. MSU garnered one first place vote and 48 points, while the Bison also tallied a first place vote and 36 points.
The 2020 MEAC football season was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, although Delaware State, South Carolina State and Howard competed in the spring of this year. DSU was 2-0 vs. Howard and dropped two contests against South Carolina State in the spring.
North Carolina Central, Norfolk State and Morgan State did not compete in the spring.
Delaware State kicks off its 2021 schedule at home against Bowie State on Sep. 4 in the Hornets' annual Hall of Fame weekend contest. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
DSU's 2021 MEAC opener is set for homecoming Saturday (Oct. 23) against preseason favorite South Carolina State at 2:00p.m.
DSU is scheduled for seven home games this upcoming season.
