Dover, Del. (Nov. 23, 2021) – Delaware State has 17 players on the 2021 All-MEAC Football Team, including six first team selections.
DSU's first team honorees are:
Trey Gross (sr.; WR),
Matthew Derks (sr.; OL), Sy'Veon Wilkerson (fr.; RB),
Isaiah Williams (jr.; DL),
Esaias Guthrie (r-Fr.; DB) and
Matt Noll (fr.; P).
Gross was tops in the MEAC in touchdowns ( 13) and fourth in the league in receptions at 4.3 per game (47 total), while Wilkerson was the No. 2 rusher with 841 yards during the 2021 season.
Derks was a '21 Preseason All-MEAC Selection and Guthrie was tops in the league with four interceptions.
Noll ranked first among MEAC punters at 40.4 yards per kick.
Delaware State is represented on the All-MEAC Second Team by
Dillon Marshall (jr,; C),
Charles Peeler (f-jr.; DB) and
Kwannah Kollie (sr.; RS).
Hornets earning All-MEAC Third Team honors are
James King (sr.; OL),
Brandon Bradford (jr.; OL),
Marcus Winfield (r-fr.; DL),
Ronald Holmes (fr.; LB),
Brooks Parker (jr.; LB),
Kamari Jackson (r-jr.; LB), Jawain Granger (jr.; DB) and
Romell Harris-Freeman (r-so.; DB).
Delaware State was 5-6 overall and third in the MEAC standings a with a 2-3 league record this past season. The five wins were the most by the Hornets since 2021. DSU was also 4-3 at home in 2021.
