Dover, Del. (June 3, 2020) --- Delaware State equestrian has announced three additional signees to the program. Sierra Kane (Greenwood, Del./ Western), Devyn Looney (New Milford, Conn. /Jumping Seat) and Christa "C.J." Yeary (Concord, N.C. / Jumping Seat) will attend the university and ride for the Hornets beginning in the 2020-21 season.
Kane captured first place in the Reserve World Champion English Showmanship 14-18 competition. She has also achieved World Top 5 status at the Appaloosa Youth Worlds, Western pleasure 13-15, Western horsemanship 13-15 and Bareback Horsemanship 14-18; and Top 10 finishes at  the Western Showmanship 16-18 & 13-15, Western pleasure 13-15, Novice Western pleasure 14-18, Novice English Eq 14-18, Stake Race 14-18, Stump race 14-18, Keyhole 14-18 and Figure 8 Stake Race 14-18.
In addition, Kane was the Novice Horsemanship and Western Pleasure end-of-the-year points leader.
"Sierra is an amazingly accomplished rider from right here in Delaware," said DSU Head Equestrian Coach Jen Ridgley. "We will continue to pursue the best talent in the state and region, in addition to other areas, to continue the growth of our program." Â
Looney's achievements are highlighted by a 10th place finish in the Junior Medal at CHJA Finals, third place showings in the Junior/Amateur Horsemanship at M&S Finals and Open Varsity at Zones. She also placed 10th in the 15-17 Eq Division at NEEC Finals.
Yeary was recently a NCHJA Children's medal finalist.
"We expect to announce several more newcomers for the upcoming season in the coming weeks," said Ridgley. "We are extremely excited about the new talent coming to help replace our highly successful graduating class. These newcomers are great competitors and students, and will fits in well with the team and the university." Â Â
