Delaware State is home for the first time this season, taking on Manhattan of the Metro Atlantic  Athletic Conference (MAAC). The contest will also mark the final tune-up for the Hornets before the start of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play this weekend. DSU is coming off an 87-63 loss to North Carolina-Wilmington in its most recent outing on Dec. 23. The Hornets continued their early season shooting woes in the game, hitting just 23 of their 63 shots from the floor (36.5%), including four-of-16 on three-point attempts (25.0%). Local product and University of Tennessee transfer Zack Kent (so; Magnolia, Del.) was bright spot in the contest, topping the Hornets with a career-high 15 points on seven-for-nine shooting from the field, including a three-pointer. He also recorded a block to raise his team lead to five for the season. Pinky Wiley (sr.) and Omari Peek-Green (so.) were the only other double-figure scorers for Delaware State in the contest with 10 points each. For the season, Wiley is DSU's scoring leader at 12.3 points per game. He also tops the Hornets with nine three-pointers and is tied for the team lead with 12 assists. In addition, he has missed just one free throw in 17 attempts this season (.941). Myles Carter (sr.) has come off the bench in the last three contests to rank second on the Hornets in scoring at 11.7 points per game.  Wiley and fellow guard Martaz Robinson (fr.) share the team lead in rebounding at 4.0 per game.

Manhattan has played four MAAC games at home to start the 2020-21 season. The Jaspers opened the season by splitting two games with Rider before dropping back-to-back contests to Marist.  Ant Nelson (jr.) is Manhattan's top scorer at an even 20 points per game. He scored a team season-high 27 points in the Jaspers' 7-77 victory over Rider on Dec. 12 and tallied 23 points in a loss to Marist in Manhattan's most recent outing on Dec. 20. Nelson also averages a team-best 3.3 assists per game. Jason Douglas-Stanley (jr.) is Manhattan's second-best scorer at 12.8 points per game. Elijah Buchanon (jr.) is third  on the team in scoring at 12.7 ppg and the top rebounder at 5.7 per contest.

Series History
This will be the second meeting between the Hornets and Jaspers. Manhattan won the first meeting 85-74 on its home court last season (Nov. 12, 2019). Ameer Bennett (15), John Stansbury (13) and Pinky Wiley (10) were among five double-figure scorers in the game for the Hornets. Wiley also had a game-high six assists, however, DSU was plagued by 25 turnovers in the first meeting between the teams last season.
