Dover, Del. (Nov. 25, 2020) --- Delaware State's Tom Davis, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference points leader for nearly three decades, along with two-time MEAC Player-of-the-Year Jahsha Bluntt, are among 24 Hornets on the list of candidates for the league's all-time Top 50 players
In celebration of the MEAC's 50th anniversary, voting for the league's all-time men's hoops team is now open.
Davis scored 2,275 points for the Hornets from 1987 to '91 to lead all MEAC players until the mark was exceeded earlier this year. He was the MEAC Player-of-the-Year in 1989 and a three-time All-MEAC First Team selection.
Bluntt was the MEAC's Player-of-the-Year in 2006 and '07, a two-time All-MEAC First Team pick and the league tournament MVP after leading Delaware State to its lone conference championship in 2005.
DSU's candidates for MEAC All-Time Top 50 also includes Kendall Gray, who captured the league's Player-of-the-Year and Defensive Player-of-the-Year awards in 2015.
Other Hornet candidates for the MEAC honor are: Roy Bright, Bernard Campbell, Emanual Davis, Miles Davis, Aaron Fleetwood, William Hill, Robert Hunter, Andre Matthews, Amere May, Devin Morgan, Chris Nurse, James Roundtree, Charles Shealey, Sam Shepherd, Fred Simmons, Dominic Snowden, Marvin Spratley, Thaj Tate,, Jay Threatt and Casey Walker
Voting is open to the public and lasts until Feb. 1.
The MEAC will hold voting for all-time teams in each of the league's current sponsored sports throughout the 2020-21 academic year, as well as wrestling (which the conference sponsored from 1972 through 1995).
