DSU's "COOKIE" BURNETT HONORED BY MEAC

Norfolk, Va. (Sep. 9, 2019) --- Delaware State volleyball outside hitter Ryanne “Cookie” Burnett (fr.) has been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for her performance at the Lafayette/ Lehigh Crosstown Tournament last weekend. Burnett was named MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week after tallying 31 kills on 81 attempts (.198 hitting pct.), to go along with three aces, nine digs and two blocks in three tournament matches.  

Burnett had a career-best 19 kills on 46 attacks (.239) and five aces vs. Lafayette last Friday.

For the season, she is second on the Hornets in kills per set (2.70) and total kills (62), and ranks fifth on the team in digs (37) through seven matches. 

This marks the second straight week that a Hornet has earned the MEAC's top rookie award. Anadys Valentin (fr.) was awarded the honor on Sep. 2.

Delaware State is back in action on Wednesday (Sep. 11) at St. Peter's College. The match is set for 6:00 p.m. in Jersey City, N.J.
