DSU's VANG EARNS MEAC VOLLEYBALL HONOR

Norfolk, Va. (Sep. 30, 2019) --- Delaware State outside hitter Jordan Vang (fr.) has been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for her play this past weekend. Vang was named MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week today after totaling 27 kills in 68 attempts (.294 hitting percentage), along with 13 digs in two contests.

The Kitchener, Ontario, Can., native was tops on the team in kills in each contest, highlighted by a season-best 17 in the Hornets' come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Morgan State on Sunday.

Vang has reached double figures in kills in five of the 11 matches in which she has competed this season. Despite missing the first five matches, she ranks third on the Hornets with 87 kills this year. Her season totals also include 48 digs, nine blocks and five service aces.

A Delaware State player has been selected as MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week four times this season. Anadys Valentin was honored on Sep. 2, while Ryanne Burnett was cited on Sep. 9 & 16.

The Hornets (6-10; 1-1 MEAC) return to action this Friday (Oct. 4) in their 2019 home opener against defending MEAC champ. The match gets underway at 6:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
