Towson, Md. (Apr. 5, 2019) --- Delaware State fell to Towson 5-1 in a non-conference singles-only match on Friday.  The highlight for the Hornets was Sofia Rachi's victory in the No. 1 contest. Rachi defeated Towson's Alex Martinez 6-3, 6-2 for DSU's lone win.

Delaware State's Aayushi Chouhan won the second set in the No. 5 match 6-4 to draw even, but fell in the tie breaker.

In the No. 6 contest, DSU's Yelysaveta Bessonova dropped the first set 2-6, but forced a second set tie-breaker before falling. Towson's Lauren Jacobs won the tie-breaker 7-5 for the 7-6 win in set two.

The Hornets will be home take on Howard in a MEAC North match on Saturday. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Dover High School.
