The Game
Delaware State (2-11; 0-2 MEAC) welcomes defending MEAC champion North Carolina A&T to Memorial Hall. The Lady Hornets bring a seven-game losing streak into the contest, including two defeats to begin their 2018-19 MEAC schedule. DSU is coming off a 71-57 loss to visiting Coppin State last Monday. Coppin State shot 58.3% in the second half, highlighted by seven-of-10 shooting (70%) from three-point range. NaJai Pollard led Delaware State with 21 points and 12 rebounds in the contest, marking her sixth double-double of the season. Pollard is tops in the MEAC and sixth among all NCAA I Division I players in scoring at 23.2 points per game. She's also second in the league in rebounding at 9.9 per contest. A Preseason All-MEAC First Team selection, Pollard enters the weekend with 1,650 career points to rank fourth in team history. In addition, she's fourth on the Lady

Hornets' all-time list with 875 career rebounds. Lanayjha Ashe was the only other Delaware State player in double figures vs. Coppin State with 13 points, while DSU's Alycea Sharpe grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds in the contest. Ashe is second on the Lady Hornets and 10th in the MEAC in scoring at 12.6 points per game.         

 

North Carolina A&T (4-10; 1-0 MEAC) is coming off a 58-44 victory over South Carolina State in its 2018-19 MEAC opener last Saturday. Rayven Peeples led the Lady Aggies with 10 points on four-for-four shooting from the field. Alexus Lessears came off the bench to add nine points for NCA&T in the contest. The Lady Aggies held a 43-25 rebound advantage in the game. C'Coriea Foy is the team's leading scorer at 11.8 points per game, while Cinia McCray is NCA&T's second-leading scorer at 11.0 ppg.       

 

The Series (Tied 34-34)
This is the first of two 2018-19 meetings between the teams. North Carolina A&T has won the last seven meetings to tie the series at 34-34. The Aggies won the last contest 66-48 at Delaware State during the 2017-18 season. The Lady Hornets have not defeated NCA&T since a 73-67 victory on Feb. 5, 2011 in Memorial Hall. The teams are scheduled to meet again this season on Feb. 9 at NCA&T.
