THE GAME
Delaware State (10-12; 4-3 MEAC) begins a two-game MEAC homestand against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats. After winning the first contest of a four-game road swing, the Hornets dropped the last three, including a 69-51 non-conference loss to NJIT in their most recent outing last Tuesday. DSU missed its first eight shots of the game, and trailed 38-24 at the half. NJIT led by as many as 28 points in the second half. Amere May was high scorer for the Hornets with 18 points, highlighted by three three-point field goals, while Tyshawn Bell added 10 points. DSU's Kendall Gray led all players with 10 rebounds, his 10th straight game with double-figure boards. Gray continues to lead all NCAA Div. I players in overall rebounding (12.8 pg) and defensive rebounds (9.6 pg)  entering this weekend's action. May is second in the MEAC (48th nationally) in scoring at 18.1 points per game. The Hornets have dropped their last two MEAC contests to fall to sixth place in the league standings at 4-3. Defending champ No. Carolina Central leads the MEAC at 9-0, while Norfolk State is second with an 8-1 league mark.     

Bethune-Cookman (7-18; 3-5 MEAC) also suffered a non-conference loss in its last outing. The
Wildcats are coming off a 77-72 setback to Stetson last Tuesday. BCU led 42-36 at the half, but was outscored 41-30 in the final 20 minutes. The loss overshadowed a game-high 28 point performance by Wildcat guard Ricky Johnson, who nailed four three-pointers and was six-for-seven at the free throw line in the contest. Quentin Brewer came off the bench to post a double-double, tallying 17 points and 13 rebounds. Brewer was eight-for-12 from the field in the contest. For the season,  Johnson averages 11.9 points per game, while Brewer averages 9.9 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game. Johnson also has a team-high 40 assists, while Mikel Trapp tops the team with 41 three-point field goals (41-121). Bethune-Cookman is eighth in the MEAC standings (3-5) entering this weekend's action.  

DSU vs. BETHUNE-COOKMAN SERIES HISTORY (DSU leads 34-33 )
This is the only scheduled meeting between the Hornets and Wildcats this season. Delaware State won the last meeting between the teams 79-67 on Feb. 15, 2014 in Daytona Beach, Fla. Tyshawn Bell led four Delaware State players in double-figures with 21 points, matching his career-high. Bell also had 10 rebounds to record his second career double-double. Kendall Gray had 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Hornets vs. Bethune-Cookman last season.
