Delaware State begins a two-game MEAC road swing with a visit to Hampton University. The Hornets (0-4 overall; 0-1 MEAC) are coming off a 26-6 loss to conference co-leader Morgan State last Saturday. The Hornets trailed by just seven points before the Bears scored two touchdowns in the final six minutes to seal the win. DSU scored its lone touchdown on a 65-yard pass from Esayah Obado to Malik Golson to tie the game at 6-6 in the third quarter. Jamal Jackson (sr.) led the Hornets with a season-high 78 yards rushing in the contest. For the season, Jackson is tops on the team with 214 yards (3.5 ypc) and two rushing touchdowns. Obado (r-jr.) has completed 32-of-74 passes (43.2%) for 440 yards and two touchdowns. Golson (r-jr.) is the Hornets' top receiver with 11 catches for 167 yards (15.2 avg.) and two scores.

Defensively, inside linebacker Malik Harris (so.) is second in the MEAC and
seventh among all FCS players in tackles at 12.5 per game. He's also tops in the league and second in the nation in solo tackles (7.3 pg); and ranks third in the

Hampton (2-3; 1-2 MEAC) is trying to bounce back from a 45-31 home loss to MEAC preseason favorite North Carolina A&T last weekend. The Pirates trailed 31-14 before scoring 17 unanswered points to tie the game early in the fourth quarter. The Aggies scored the go-ahead touchdown on a punt return with less than six minutes to go, and added another touchdown with about three minutes to play. Hampton outgained NCA&T 431-187, including a 261-to-95 advantage by the pass. Pirate quarterback David Watford completed 18-of-40 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns in the contest. Watford is tops in the MEAC passing at 255.0 yards per game (1.275 total yards). He also leads the league with 13 passing touchdowns (fifth in FCS), and is second in the conference with a 122.1 efficiency rating. Hampton wide receiver Twarn Mixson leads the MEAC in receptions (25), receiving yards (500) and yards per game (100.0). Mixson had five catches for 136 yards and a touchdown vs. NCA&T last week.

THE SERIES
This is the 41st meeting between the Hornets and Pirates. Hampton has won the last two, and four of the last five contests, to open up a 26-14 series lead. The Pirates won last year's meeting 23-0 at Delaware State's Alumni Stadium. The last time the team met in Hampton, the Pirates posted a 30-7 victory in 2013.
