THE GAME
The Hornets (8-9; 2-1 MEAC) welcome conference rival Savannah State to Memorial Hall in search of their third straight win. Delaware State is coming off a 60-49 victory over South Carolina State on Saturday. Kendall Gray was the difference-maker in the contest, tallying 16 points, a career-high 23 rebounds, five assists and five blocks. Gray has jumped to the top of the national Div. I rankings in rebounds at 12.7 per game. He's also tied for ninth in the nation in blocks at 3.1 per contest. His 23 rebounds vs. SC State are second in the nation in a game this season. Gray had 22 rebounds vs. Morgan State on Jan. 10, tying for the third-best single game performance this season. He has 89 rebounds (17.8 pg) and five double-doubles in the last five games. Amere May added 16 points and Kendal Williams 10 in Saturday's win over South Carolina State. The Hornets outscored the Bulldogs 34-18 in the second half after trailing by five at the break. DSU held SC State to 26.5% shooting from the floor in the contest (18-for-68), including 17.9% in the second half (7-for-39). The Hornets need one win to match its total for the entire 201-3-14 season (9-21).

Savannah State (5-13; 3-1 MEAC) has lost three straight and eight of its last nine entering the contest.
The Tigers are trying to bounce back from an 87-57 thumping at the hands of UMES on Saturday. Demarcus Bryant came off the bench to lead SSU with 13 points. Bryant was five-for-five from the field, including three three-point shots. Terel Hall added 12 points for the Tigers in the UMES contest. Hall leads SSU in scoring at 10.2 points per game. Fenner and Saadiq Muhammad share the team rebound lead at 4.3 each.

DSU vs. SAVANNAH STATE SERIES HISTORY (DSU leads 1-0)
The Hornets and Tigers are meeting for just the second time. DSU won last year's inaugural meeting

79-59 in Memorial Hall. The Hornets shot a season-high 63.4% from the field in the contest. DSU  knocked down 26 of their 41 shots from the field, including four-of-nine from three-point territory. The Hornets were also successful on 23-of-26 free throws (.885). Tyshawn Bell led five Delaware State players in double figures with a career-high 21 points. Bell was seven-for-nine overall from the field, two-for-two from three-point territory; and perfect on five free throw attempts. DeAndre Haywood  
(5-9 FGs) had a (then) career-high 13 points, while Kendall Gray added 12 points on six-for-seven shooting from the field. Gray's performance was highlighted by three crowd pleasing dunks. Mrdjan Gasevic (2-3 FGs; 6-6 FT Charles Burley (8-10 FTs) came off the bench to score 10 points each for the Hornets.
