THE GAME
The short-handed Hornets make a cross country trek to take on the Oregon Ducks of the Pac 12 Conference. Delaware State (5-6) is coming off a 72-64 victory over St. Francis Brooklyn on Wednesday, behind a career performance by senior guard Amere May. May scored a career-high 48 points, the second most in team history, to lead the way. He was 16-for-25 from the field, including six-of-10 from three-point territory; and 10-for-10 at the free throw line. His point total was the most by a Hornet since Tom Davis set the team record with 50 against Brooklyn College on Feb. 1, 1989; and is tops among all NCAA Division I players this season. May's previous DSU high was 32 points in the Hornets' 72-65 win over Wake Forest on Nov. 28. Tyshawn Bell was the only other Delaware State player in double figures against St. Francis with 17 points. Bell was six-for-12 from the floor and three-of-four on three-point shots. His first three pointer of the game moved him into sixth on the Hornets' all-time list. Delaware State will face the Ducks without starting center Kendall Gray, who did not make the trip as a precaution while he rests from an undisclosed illness. Gray sat out the second half of the St. Francis contest on Wednesday. He was scoreless while grabbing two rebounds in 15 first-half minutes of the game. Gray is tops in the MEAC and among the NCAA Division leaders in blocks and rebounds, The Hornets' all-time blocks leader is also second on the team in scoring at 11.5 points per game this
season. His status in listed as game-to-game.
Oregon (7-3) has won four of its last five games, including a 79-56 victory over Cal. State Northridge in its last outing on Wednesday.
