Delaware State leaves the Mid-Atlantic cold for the sunny Aloha State to take on the Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors of the Big West Conference. The Hornets (3-3) are coming off a stunning 72-65 victory over Wake Forest last Friday (Nov. 28), their first win against an Atlantic Coast Conference team. Amere May (sr.) scored a game and his Division I high of 32 points, while Kendall Gray (sr.) tallied 14 points (6-8 FGs), a career-high 16 rebounds; and tied the school record for the third time in his career with eight blocks to lead the Hornets in the contest. May's performance was highlighted by six three-point field goals (6-10). His point total was also the most by a DSU player since Stephan Malliet tallied 36 during the 1999-2000 season. DSU trailed Wake Forest 38-36 at the half, but outscored the Demon Deacons 36-27 in the final 20 minutes. The Hornets led for the final 13-and-a-half minutes of the game. DSU outshot Wake Forest 49.1%-to-35.6%, and won the rebound battle 38-34. The Hornets held Wake Forest to 26.9% shooting (7-for-26) in the second half. May has jumped to the top of the Hornets' scoring list with a 19.7 point per-game average. He has led the team in scoring in each of the last two games. Gray is second among Hornets who have played in at least three games with a 13.7 point per game average. He is also tops on the team in rebounding (11.7 pg) and blocks (26).
