THE GAME
Delaware State faces the tough task of trying to snap a three-game losing streak against Wake Forest of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Hornets (2-2) are trying to bounce back from a 126-76 drubbing at the hands of Iona on Wednesday evening. Iona set school records for points, assists (35) and three-point field goals (24) in the contest. The 126 points were the most allowed by Delaware State since a 138-75 loss to Texas Christian during the 1997-98 season. Amere May came off the bench to lead the Hornets with 18 points in his second game since returning to the
team. Kendall Gray recorded his third double-double of the season and 15th of his career with 14 points and tying his career high with 13 rebounds. Gray was six-for-nine from the field and two-of-two at the free throw line. He also had one block to bring his school record total to 228. Tyshawn Bell added 13 points for the Hornets. Bell was five-for-eight from the floor and three-of-four from beyond the arc. He has hit 12 of his last 16 three-point shots.
Wake Forest (4-2) has won its last two games after dropping the previous two. The Demon Deacons are coming off an 83-49 victory over Mount St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday. Wake was 30-for-56 from the field (53.6%), including eight-of-14 from three-point range (57.1%) in the contest. A total of 15 Deacons scored in the game, led by Codi Miller-McIntyre's 11. He also had eight rebounds and seven assists in the contest. Devin Thomas leads Wake Forest in scoring at 13.7 points per-game; and in rebounding at 10.8 per contest this season. Miller-McIntyre is second on the team with a 10.7 point per-game average. Former Kansas University star and NBA standout Danny Manning is in his first
season as head coach of the Demon Deacons.
