THE GAME
Delaware State visits Southeast Conference country to take on Arkansas. The Hornets (2-1) are trying to bounce back from a 62-55 loss to North Texas in their last outing. The defeat
overshadowed the performance by Delaware State center Kendall Gray, who tallied 12 points and tied his career-high with 13 rebounds to record his second straight double-double and 14th in his career. Gray also blocked four shots to tie the DSU career record of 222, sharing the mark with Marques Oliver (2009-13). The contest marked the 27th time that Gray has blocked at least four in a game in his career. DeAndre Haywood led the Hornets in scoring for the third straight game, collecting 18 points, highlighted by four-of-five shooting from three-point territory. Haywood has 59 points in the first three games to lead DSU with a 19.7 point per-game average. Tyshawn Bell also hit four-of-five three-pointers en route to a 16-point performance. Kendall Williams was the only other Hornet to score, coming off the bench to contribute nine points. The score was 27-27 at the half.
Arkansas (2-0) is coming off an 83-53 shellacking of Wake Forest in its last outing on Wed. (Nov. 19). The Razorbacks were 32-for-61 from the field (.525), including seven-of-15 from three-point territory (.467) in the contest. Rashad Madden led six Arkansas players in double figures with 11 points in the contest. Bobby Portis leads the team in scoring at 17.5 points per-game, while Athlon Bell and Alondise Harris average 11.5 points each. Arkansas opened the season with a 97-79 victory over Alabama State on Nov. 16.
DSU vs. ARKANSAS/SOUTHEAST CONFERENCE SERIES HISTORY
This will be the second meeting in three years and sixth overall between the Hornets and Razorbacks. Arkansas won the last encounter 86-51 during the 2012-13 season. The Razorbacks have won the previous five meetings by an average of nearly 35 points per game. Arkansas was No. 1 in the country when it defeated Delaware State 123-66 during the 1993-94 campaign.
