FIRST HALF STRIKE BY OWLS ENOUGH TO SCOOT PAST HORNETS WEDNESDAY NIGHT

(Dover, Del.) – Battling tough weather conditions, including light showers and chilly temperatures, the Delaware State women's soccer team (3-10-1), who were playing in its first match since falling 2-1 at NJIT on Oct. 10, came up short 1-0 to the AAC's Temple Owls (11-6-1) Wednesday evening at Alumni Stadium.

The Owls, who had dropped three out of their last four games coming in, scored the lone goal of the night during 24th minute, when forward Kelly Farrell (8) controlled a bouncing pass by defender Alyssa Kirk, resulting in a shot sailing out of the reach goalkeeper Katelyn Koslosky

With this goal, Farrell increased her team-high point total to 18.

At the half, Temple maintained its one-score lead, in addition to tallying 10 shots, compared to DSU's three. Despite allowing a goal, Koslosky collected five saves, including multiple at close range to keep the deficit at one.

After the break, the Hornets were able to keep the Owls at bay, despite allowing another 10 attempts.  Nevertheless, DSU's offense did not register a shot, as it suffered its sixth shutout loss of the season.

When the final buzzer sounded, Koslosky finished with a game-high seven saves, pushing her career total to 372. With this output, the senior out of East Islip, N.Y. only needs nine more saves to become the program's all-time leader.

Coming up, the Columbia Blue & Red will hit the road for the final time of 2014 this weekend, beginning with South Carolina State on Friday (7 p.m.), followed by Francis Marion on Sunday (1 p.m.).
