NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Delaware St. fell to Iona 4-0 Saturday (Aug. 22) on the road at Mazzella Field. Delaware St. opened the season with a 0-1-0 overall record.
How it Happened
Iona grabbed a 1-0 lead when Dolene Smith scored in the 17th minute, assisted by Camille Daniel. Iona extended its lead to 2-0 when Lauren DeLaurentiis scored in the 53rd minute, assisted by Marissa Graziano and Smith. The Gaels added another goal in the 61st minute when Natalia Arango scored off an assist from Graziano. Iona capped the scoring with a 77th-minute goal from Kate Allen, assisted by Kaylie Conklin and Molly Marcuss.
Delaware St. recorded six shots in the match, including three on goal.
Aryanna Peregrino led the Hornets with two shots, while
Trinity Surowiec and
Alyssa Peregrino each recorded a shot on goal. Goalkeeper
Jazmin Bailey recorded seven saves.
