Raleigh, N.C. (Apr. 1, 2013) --- Delaware State University's Janae Wilson (fr.; Windsor, Conn.) took first place in the women's long jump at the prestigious Raleigh (N.C.) Relays last weekend. Wilson topped more than 60 competitors in her section with a top leap of 5.75 meters, well ahead of runner-up Mariah Burns of Slippery Rock (5.62m).
Delaware State's women were seventh in the 4x800 meter relay. The DSU team of Dashera Richardson, Alisha Jones, Ketsia Dornevil and Ashley Robinson completed the race in nine-minutes-18.63 seconds.
On the men's side, Delaware State's Ryan Carter (sr.; New Castle, Del.) bested more than 160 competitors to win the 400-meter dash. Carter was clocked at 46.56 seconds, ranking among the nationwide top 10 in the event this outdoor season.
DSU's Stephen Bowe was sixth among collegians in the Raleigh Relays 400-meter dash with a time of 48.00 seconds.
Carter and Bowe also helped lead the Hornets to a second place finish in the 4x40 meter relay at Raleigh. The duo teamed with Tyquan Brown and Bryan Pointer to post a time of 3:09.28, second to St. Augustine's (3:07.54) among collegiate teams.
