DSU Men's Track & Field Ja'Mari Manson Leaps to First Place at Penn Relays

Philadelphia, PA — The Delaware State Men's Track and Field Program continued their season at the prestigious Penn Relays, filled with thousands of high school, collegiate, and professional athletes.

The competition was highlighted by spectacular performances from Delaware State Freshman Ja'Mari Manson and Sophomore Marian Drazan.

On the men's side, Ja'Mari Manson leaped into first place in the High Jump with a mark of 2.15m (7'0 1/2"). The crowd was amazed by his performance as Manson set a new DSU School Record while earning a spot in the Top 25 in the USA; he is currently the third-ranked freshman in the USA and tenth-ranked in the East Region. Manson added to his success this past weekend by becoming the number one-ranked high jumper in the MEAC this season.

Sophomore Marian Drazan is no stranger to the success that DSU consistently showcases. Drazan ran the second-fastest time ever in MEAC history, less than one second off the #1 all-time time in MEAC history. In a field loaded with the top steeplechasers in the country, Drazan also shattered his own personal best and DSU school record by 8 seconds with a time of 8:46.52. He earned the second-fastest time in MEAC history while becoming the 22nd-ranked athlete in the East Region, Top 50 in the nation, and the #8-ranked sophomore in the country. Lastly, Drazan is ranked #1 in the MEAC this season with a time that qualified him for the U23 European Championships.

Up Next: The Hornets will compete in the Larry Ellis Invite on May 2, 2025.
