LADY HORNETS LOOK TO SNAP THREE-GAME SKID IN ROAD TRIP FINALE AGAINST MARSHALL

The Game

The Delaware State women's basketball team (3-6, 0-1 MEAC) head into the final game of a season-long three-game road swing Saturday afternoon (12 p.m.) looking to get back on track against the Marshall Thundering Herd (4-5).

The Opponent

» Marshall Thundering Herd (4-5, 0-0 C-USA)

The Herd enters Saturday's contest coming off a 71-56 win at home over Wofford on Thursday.  Throughout the season, Marshall has played on the road once, which resulted in a 67-48 loss at Robert Morris on Nov. 12.

Offensively, Marshall is averaging 64 points per game on 38 percent shooting, led by guard/forward Leah Scott (10.9 ppg).  On the defensive end, meanwhile, the Herd is holding their opponents to 59 points per contest on just 36 percent shooting from the floor.  Down low, center Chukuwa Ezeigbo leads the squad in rebounding (7.4 rpg) and blocks (15), while averaging 7.3 points per game.

» The Head Coach: Matt Daniel is in his second season at helm for the Thundering Herd.  Last year, Daniel's led Marshall to a 9-21 overall record and 3-13 output in conference play.

A Win Would Mean…

» The Lady Hornets would snap their longest losing streak of the season.

» DSU's second road victory of the season.

» Delaware State would move to 4-6 overall for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

Last Time Out…

The Lady Hornets were no match for the Big 12's West Virginia Mountaineers, as DSU fell 109-47 Wednesday evening.  Winning its ninth straight game, WVU was led by center Asya Bussie (7-of-8) and Bria Holmes (9-of-13) both pouring in 22 points, whereas Bussie added five rebounds and three blocks to her stat-line in 19 minutes of action.

In the case of Delaware State, guard Raven Bankston scored 16 points (6-of-13), two assists and two steals before going down with a shoulder injury at the 11:04 mark.  Guard/forward Deanna Harmon chipped in with 10 points (2-of-4), including a perfect 6-for-6 output from the charity stripe.

Road Woes

In six road games this season, DSU is 1-5 and being outscored 88-63.  Offensively, the Lady Hornets are shooting 39 percent from field, including 23 percent from beyond the arc, while also dishing out 63 assists, compared to 121 by their oppositions.

On the defensive end, opposing squads are shooting 48 percent, along with owning the rebounding advantage at 156-116.  

Milestone Watch

Going into Saturday's game, senior Deanna Harmon needs two assists to place fifth on DSU's all-time career assist list.  Currently, her career total stands at 228.

Through Nine Games Last Season…

DSU was 2-7 and 1-1 MEAC in play, coming off a 72-57 loss at South Dakota State.

Coming Up Next…

The Lady Hornets will return home on Dec. 29 (2 p.m.) to take on St. Francis.
