The Game
The Delaware State women's basketball team (3-5, 0-1 MEAC) will look to avoid losing three consecutive games for the first time this season when it takes on Big 12 foe West Virginia (8-1) in what will be the second contest of a season-long three-game road swing.

The Opponent
» West Virginia Mountaineers (8-1, 0-0 Big 12)
After dropping its season opener to Ohio State, 70-61, WVU has ripped off eight-straight wins, with six of those victories by at least 20 points.
The Mountaineers have four players averaging 10 points or more per contest, led by guard Christal Caldwell (14.7 ppg). Also, in the backcourt, Bria Holmes is averaging 13.4 points per game, to go along with a team-high 11 steals, whereas guard Taylor Palmer (13.1 ppg) leads the team from beyond the arc at 33 percent (19-of-58). On the block, center Asya Bussie (13 ppg) is averaging a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game and leading WVU in blocks (17).
» The Head Coach: In his 13th season at the helm, Mike Carey's resume features two Big East Coach of the Year honors and six NCAA Tournament appearances, including a current streak of four-straight. In addition, Carey hold's the highest winning percentage by any coach in WVU history with an overall record of 252-142 (.639).
» The Series: Delaware State is 1-2 all-time against West Virginia. In their last meeting, the Mountaineers came away with a 66-31 victory at home in the first game of the 2010-11 season. DSU's lone win of the series occurred in 2003 at home in overtime, 59-56.

Last Time Out…
The Lady Hornets fell 93-44 to No. 8 Maryland on the road this past Saturday. DSU's offense struggled as MU's defense held the Lady Hornets to 24 percent (15-of-62) shooting. Despite the tough night, guard Raven Bankston finished with a game-high 22 points as the only player who scored in double figures for DSU. Bankston also totaled six rebounds, one steal and one assist.
Bankston Tallies Back-to-Back MEAC Rookie of the Week Honors, Third Overall
For the second straight week and for the third time this season, guard Raven Bankston was named MEAC Rookie of the Week, after her 22-point and six-rebound performance at No. 8 Maryland.
With this feat, she is the first Hornet to garner this award three times in a season since forward Tierra Hawkins did it during the 2011-12 season, as she went on to win MEAC Rookie of the Year.
Moving Up the Career Lists
Despite DSU's recent loss to the Terps, forward Deanna Harmon tallied two assists to move into sixth (228) on DSU's all-time career assists list.
Through Eight Games Last Season…
The Lady Hornets were 2-6 overall and 1-1 in MEAC action, coming off a 79-57 loss at home to Albany.
