(Riverdale, N.Y.) – The Delaware State women's basketball team (1-3) will wrap up November against the Manhattan Jaspers (1-3) Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m., completing its two-game road swing in New York.
The Opponent
» Manhattan Jaspers (1-3, 0-0 MAAC)
After winning its season opener at Fairleigh Dickinson, Manhattan has dropped three straight, most recently a 72-62 loss to La Salle at home on Sunday.
The Jaspers' main offensive threat features guard/forward Monica Roedor. Earning All-MAAC Third Team honors last season, Roedor is the lone Jasper averaging double figures in the scoring column (17.4 ppg), along with leading the squad in rebounds (6.0 rpg).
» The Head Coach: John Olenowski is in his fifth with Manhattan. Currently holding a 66-67 overall record at the helm, the Jaspers went 8-23 overall last season, including a 4-14 finish in conference action.
» The Series: DSU is 0-2 all-time against Manhattan. In their last meeting, the Jaspers came away with an 83-75 victory at home on Dec. 21, 1999.

Last Time Out…
The Lady Hornets fell 87-71 at Albany this past Sunday, despite a game-high 29 points (12-of-18) by forward Tierra Hawkins, and guard Raven Bankston pouring in a career-high 28 points (10-of-21).
Hawkins also finished with five rebounds, three steals and three blocks, while Bankston added two rebounds, three assists and two steals to her output.
As a team, the Great Danes shot 63 percent (29-of-46) from field, including 62 percent (5-of-9) from beyond the arc and 92 percent (24-of-26) from the free throw line throughout the entire contest.
Albany's highest point getter, meanwhile, was forward Shereesha Richards with 28 points (11-of-14), to along with six rebounds and three steals, while guard Margarita Rosario tallied 21 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field. Margarita also was perfect from the free throw line (10-of-10) and beyond the arc (3-for-3).
Hawkins Garners MEAC Player of the Week Honors
Monday, forward Tierra Hawkins was named MEAC Player of the Week for the first time in her stellar career as a Hornet.
In games against Wilmington and Albany, Hawkins averaged 29.5 points, shooting 66-percent from the field (25-of-38), with 10.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 steals.
Fear the Hawk
Last season, junior Tierra Hawkins finished fourth in the conference in scoring (17.1 ppg), seventh in rebounding (7.4 rpg) and second in field goal percentage (.509) to earn Second Team All-MEAC honors. Her 529 points in 2012-13 were the third most by any Hornet since the 1985-86 campaign.
So far in 2013-14, the Clinton, Md. native leads the Lady Hornets in scoring (22.3 ppg), rebounds (10.5 rpg) and double-doubles (2).
Her best game this season occurred in DSU's 86-73 win at home over Wilmington while tying a career-high in points (30) and rebounds (15). Also, in this game, she tallied 1,000 career points to become the 15th player in team history to reach this milestone.
Bankston Off to a Hot Start
Coming off a career-high 28 points on 10-for-21 (.476) shooting against Albany, guard Raven Bankston added to her hot start this season.
Through four games, the freshman out of Detroit, Mich. is second on the team in scoring (20.0 ppg), first in three-pointers made (6), three-point percentage (.375) and third in assists (2.8).
After totaling 18 (8-of-12) points, five rebounds and a steal in DSU's season opening loss at Old Dominion, along with going 2-for-3 (.666) from beyond the arc, Bankston earned MEAC Rookie of the Week honors.
Through Four Games Last Season…
The Hornets were 1-3, coming off an 88-46 victory at home over Wilmington.
Next Up for DSU…
Will be a back-to-back homestand, beginning with George Mason on Dec. 4 (5:30 p.m.), followed by its MEAC opener against Coppin State (2 p.m.).
