Delaware State welcomes MEAC rival Hampton to Alumni Stadium in the 2012 home finale for the Hornets. DSU is 5-4 overall and fourth in the MEAC with a 4-2 mark in the league. The Hornets are coming off a 23-20 overtime loss at North Carolina Central last Saturday. The game ended when Delaware State's potential game-tying field goal attempt was blocked in the second overtime. The loss snapped a four-game win streak for the Hornets. Hampton fell to 2-6 overall and 2-4 in the MEAC after a 20-10 road loss to Howard last week. Brian Swain completed 13-of-23 passes for 91 yards and rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown to lead the Pirates.
A Delaware State win would be the 100th career victory as a collegiate head coach for Kermit Blount, who was 91-87-3 prior to joining the Hornets in 2011.
THE SERIES
This will be the 38th meeting between the Hornets and Pirates. Hampton holds a 24-13 series lead. Keyed by seven Delaware State turnovers, Hampton won last year's meeting 42-6 in Hampton, Va.
