THE GAME
Delaware State welcomes MEAC rival Bethune-Cookman to Memorial Hall. The Hornets have dropped their last seven games to fall to 4-10 overall and 1-2 in the MEAC. DSU is coming off a 63-60 overtime loss to Md.-Eastern Shore last Saturday. The Hornets trailed 36-28 at the half, but battled back to tie the game at 55 at the end of regulation. Casey Walker led four DSU players in double figures with 15 points. Bethune-Cookman has won two straight and three of its last four games to improve to 7-12 overall and 4-1 in the MEAC. The Wildcats are coming off a 68-62 win over Savannah State. Kevin Dukes was high scorer for BCU with 15 points in the contest. The Wildcats are in second place in the current MEAC standings.
DSU VS. BETHUNE-COOKMAN SERIES HISTORY (BCU leads 33-32)
This will be the 66th meeting between the teams. Bethune-Cookman has won the last two meetings to open up a 33-32 lead in the series. The Wildcats swept last year's meetings, winning 61-60 at Delaware State and 61-48 on their home court in Daytona Beach, Fla. The last time the teams met at DSU, Bethune's C.J. Reed scored the game-winning point on a free throw with 6.5 seconds left to play. The Hornets had the last shot, but Jay Threatt missed a driving lay-up attempt as time expired. Garrius Holloman and Alexander Starling led the Wildcats with a game-high 18 points each. Threatt was high scorer for the Hornets with a (then) career-high 17 points. DSU's Marques Oliver had a career-high seven blocks in the contest. This is the only scheduled meeting between the teams this season.
