THE GAME
Delaware State returns to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action against the UMES Hawks. The Hornets are trying to snap a six-game losing streak that's dropped their overall record to 4-9. DSU is 1-1 in the MEAC, with the victory coming against UMES on Dec. 3, 2011 in Princess Anne, Md. The Hornets are winless since that contest. Delaware State has been idle since a 78-44 loss to North Carolina State on Jan. 4. Tahj Tate returned from a four-game team-imposed suspension to lead the Hornets with 14 points in the N.C. State contest. Marques Oliver had 11 points and nine rebounds, while Casey Walker tallied 10 points for DSU. UMES, 3-12 overall and 0-2 in the MEAC, brings a four-game losing streak into the contest. The Hawks are coming off a 78-72 loss to Norfolk State on Monday. Louis Bell and Percy Woods led the Hawks with 15 points each. UMES led 32-31 at the break, but was outscored 47-40 in the second half.     

DSU VS. UMES SERIES HISTORY (DSU leads 51-45)  
The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Delaware State won the first contest 78-68 on Dec. 3 in Princess Anne, Md. Casey Walker led four Hornets in double figures with a season high 21 points, while Marques Oliver tallied 18 points and 11 rebounds. Kendall Gray led the DSU defensive effort with six blocks. Hillary Haley came off the bench to score a game-high 22 points for UMES. Louis Bell added 17 for the Hawks. Delaware State has won 13 of the last 15 meetings between the teams to open up a 51-45 lead in the series. The Hornets have won the last seven games between the teams in Memorial Hall. The last time UMES won at Delaware State was on Feb. 7, 2004 (69-66 in overtime).
