THE GAME
Delaware State returns home to take on Eastern Kentucky of the Ohio Valley Conference. The Hornets have dropped three of their last four games to fall to 2-3 on the season. DSU is coming off an 85-62 loss to Wagner in its last outing (Nov. 26). Tahj Tate led three Hornets in double figures with 17 points in the contest. Tate's performance was highlighted by 3-of-4 shooting from three-point territory. Marques Oliver added 15 points, a team-high eight rebounds and five blocks, while Jay Threatt contributed 14 points and three assists for DSU. The Hornets had a team-record 15 blocks in the contest. Kendall Gray also had five blocks in the game. Wagner led 26-25 before taking control of the game. The Seahawks outscored the Hornets 23-7 over the last 6:11 of the first half to hold a 49-32 lead at the break. The Seahawks were 5-for-7 from the field, including three three-pointers, and 11-of-11 at the free throw line during the decisive first half spurt. Eastern Kentucky brings a 3-4 record into the contest. The Colonels have dropped their last two games, including a 70-63 setback to Delaware State's MEAC rival Norfolk State on Sunday in Norfolk, Va. Joshua Jones led four Eastern Kentucky players with 13 points in the contest.
DSU VS. EASTERN KENTUCKY /OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE
This will be the first meeting between the teams. The Hornets are 4-5 all-time vs. current members of the Ohio Valley Conference. DSU's last contest against an OVC team was a 78-63 loss to Tennessee State in the ESPN BracketBusters last Feb. The Hornets will also face Tennessee State this season (Dec. 17). DSU vs. OVC: 1-0 vs. Eastern Illinois; 0-1 vs. Austin Peay; 1-2 vs. Tennessee State; 2-0 vs. Jacksonville State; 0-2 vs. Murray State.
