Dover, Del. (Aug. 28, 2010) --- The Delaware State University football team wrapped up preseason camp with an intrasquad scrimmage at Alumni Stadium this afternoon. The Hornets will now turn their attention to the 2010 opener against Southern University (La.) on Sep. 5 in the Sixth Annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge in Orlando, Fla. The game kicks off at 12:00 p.m., and will be televised live on ESPN, ESPN HD and ESPN3.com.

"Our goal today was to work on various game situations, in preparation for the real thing next week" said Delaware State head coach Al Lavan. "We also tried to get all of our personnel packages on the field, so everyone knows his role. Overall, I was pleased with today's session and the progress we made during camp."

The Hornets today also announced their team captains for the 2010 season. The offensive captains are quarterback Anthony Glaud, tackle Darryl Hicks and wide receiver Larrone Moore, who is also the special teams captain. The defense will be captained by tackle Andre Caroll and cornerback Francis Adjei. 

This will be Delaware State's first appearance in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge and third meeting against Southern University.

The Hornets will play their 2010 home and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener on Sep. 11 against Florida A&M. Game time is 6:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
