The Matchup
This Saturday, April 25, the Hornets host the Hampton Pirates (18-19, 5-4 MEAC) for a three-game MEAC series. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. and will play a single game on Sunday at 2 p.m. Sunday's contest will be broadcasted live on ESPNU.

The Series
The Hornets are 20-38 all-time against the Pirates with their last win coming on April 26, 2008 (5-4). In that contest, Andrea Waters went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead the DSU offense. Pitcher Brittney Ruark threw four innings of scoreless relief.

Toughest to Strikeout
Freshman Tawny Reeger is ranked first in the MEAC and 29th overall in the nation in fewest strikeouts. The Simi Valley, Cal., native has only struck out four times in 2009.

Iron Woman
Sophomore Andrea Waters has now started 88 consecutive DSU games. This is the most since Jillian French started 128 consecutive team games from 2002-2004. She is also riding a six-game mult-hit streak and raised her average from .275 before games on Friday to a team-leading .364 after six games over the weekend.

Keeping The Opposition in Check
DSU is an impressive 18-6 when the opposition scores five or less runs in a game.

Closing the Door Late
The Hornets are an impressive 16-1 when leading after four innings.

Among MEACLeaders
The Hornets currently have four players in the top 30 in the MEAC in batting average (Andrea Waters -- .364 -- 5th, JoJo Shields -- 8th --.344, Casey Beighly -- 14th -- .333, Bre Parr -- 18th -- .322, and Megan Lambertz -- 27th -- .301). That is more than any other MEAC team.

Rookie Sensations
Both Casey Beighly and Bre Parr have proven to be valuable assets as freshman. Currently, Beighly is third on the team with a .333 batting average , while Parr is fourth on the team with a .322 batting average.

Pitcher Brittney Ruark
The Junior now holds two distinct DSU records. She ranks first all-time with 37 career wins and 384.1 career innings pitched.

Hampton Player to WatchSR -- Amanda Black ? P
The two-time MEAC pitcher of year is again doing everything she can on the mound for the Pirates. This season, she is 14-11 with a 2.48 ERA
in 29 appearances. She's thrown 19 complete games and has registered 104 strikeouts in 164.1 innings.
