Hornets Come Up Short 17-5 to Howard

NORFOLK, Va. --K. Cain racked up four hits, but the Delaware State Hornets fell to the Howard Bison 17-5 on Thursday.

R. Stanley (2-2) took the loss in the circle for Delaware State (26-22).

In addition to her four hits, Cain had a triple and two RBIs to lead the Hornets. E. Crowe compiled a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Z. Harding also helped out for Delaware State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a double.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 4-0, the Hornets first put runs on the board in the third inning. Delaware State scored twice on a two-run double off the bat of Crowe.

The Hornets kept the deficit at 4-2 before tying the score in the fourth. Delaware State picked up a couple on a two-run triple from Cain, which brought the score level at 4-4.

Howard broke that tie and grabbed a 17-4 lead heading into the seventh, when Delaware State closed the gap to 17-5. The Hornets scored once on an RBI single off the bat of . The Hornets were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
