PHILADELPHIA (April 28, 2008) ? Former Delaware State wide receiver Shaheer McBride has been signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as a rookie free agent announced on the team's official web site today. McBride, a four-year starter for the Hornets, becomes the 44th player in school history to sign with an NFL franchise.
McBride finished his DSU career as the school's all-time leader in receptions (201) and yards receiving (3,007). He amassed 33 touchdowns during his time at Delaware State (tied for the school record with former Hornet great John Taylor). McBride played a major part in the Hornets' school-record 10-2 season, the MEAC championship and their first post-season in the FCS national playoffs last year. He finished the 2007 campaign with 50 receptions for 586 yards and nine touchdowns. He also had 17 punt returns for 122 yards and one kickoff return for 17 yards, giving him 725 all-purpose yards.
The Chester, Pa., native became the fifth receiver in MEAC history to go over the 3,000 reception yards mark. He finished his career ranked fourth on the all-time MEAC yards mark and fifth in reception.
