Hampton, Va. (October 3, 2008) ? With a career-high 30 digs, Libero Sonja Banicevic and the DSU volleyball team beat Hampton, 3-1, (25-17, 25-19, 23-25, 25-12) in the first MEAC contest this season.  With the win, the Hornets are at .500 in the regular season (7-7, 1-0 in MEAC) for the first time since 1991. 
DSU was once again stellar on offense racking up a .355 hitting percentage.  Junior Cassandra Joyner led the team with 16 kills, while freshman Elisa Hermann registered 14 kills.
Freshman setter Martina Ferrari led the team with 23 assists and has now recorded 20 or more assists in three of her last four games.
The Hornets will look to take their four-game winning streak (first since 10/06) to Princess Anne, Maryland, where they will look to de-throne first-place UMES, this Sunday.  UMES will be coming into Sunday's game riding a nine-game winning streak of their own.  Game time is set for 3 p.m.
