Dover, DE ? DSU Head Football Coach, Al Lavan announced today that Rayford Petty has been promoted to Assistant Head Coach.  “He has a world of experience as a coordinator and head coach, and this will allow me to better utilize his talent,” said Lavan.

Petty joined the Hornet staff this winter as Defensive Coordinator after serving five years as head coach at Howard University.  He will still serve in that capacity, but will also handle administrative duties for the program.  “It is an honor that Coach Lavan thinks enough of me to allow me to serve in this capacity on his staff.  I'm really excited about this program and this continues to allow me to pursue the things I want to do with my coaching career,” stated Petty.

 “With Coach Petty in this position, it will allow me to focus more on football,” concluded Lavan.
