PHILADELPHIA, PA –– The Delaware State Hornets Outdoor Men's and Women's Track program continued their 2026 season at the prestigious two-day Penn Relays on April 23rd–25th. The Hornets delivered a strong effort, posting a set of new DSU, MEAC, and NCAA marks.
In the field events, Sanaa Virgil placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.40m (40'9"), setting a new DSU School Record.
In the 400m hurdles, Miriam Okwudibonye clocked a time of 1:01.54 to earn a first-place finish. Okwudibonye led the race before tripping over the final hurdle and still currently ranks top 40 in the NCAA East Region, with a performance that projected a potential NCAA Top 25 time.
The 4x400m relay team of Miriam Okwudibonye, Merasia Johnson, Kahlia Smith, and Annil McIntosh placed sixth with a time of 3:45.43, ranking #4 all-time in DSU history.
The 4x100m relay team of Leah Powell, Mariah Winfield, Kahlia Smith, and Marianah Lipkins secured a fourth-place finish with a time of 46.59.
In the high jump, Valerie Ashamu placed 10th.
The 4x200m relay team of Mariah Winfield, Janaya Goins, Kahlia Smith, and Marianah Lipkins finished 16th overall.
The sprint medley relay team of Janaya Goins, Marianah Lipkins, Morgan Wallace, and Mileah Cotton placed 21st.
