NORFOLK, VA — The Delaware State women's tennis team fell 0–7 to NCCU on March 30, as the Eagles controlled the match from the opening doubles point through singles competition.
NCCU opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning two of the three matchups to gain the early 1–0 advantage. Catherine Goldman and Sia Mahajan secured the lone doubles win for the Hornets with a 6–4 victory, but NCCU claimed the remaining courts to take control heading into singles play.
In singles competition, NCCU continued to build momentum, sweeping all six matches to secure the 7–0 win. The Hornets battled across the lineup, with several matches extending into competitive sets, but were unable to convert into points.
Lucia Casas Blas pushed her match to three sets at the No. 2 position, while Maite Bou Safont also forced a deciding set, highlighting Delaware State's fight despite the final result.
The Hornets will look to regroup as they prepare for their next matchup.
