Dover, DE – Delaware State earned its first win of the season with a 13–6 victory over Minnesota Crookston on Friday, Sept. 26, at Redstone Ranch Equestrian Center, posting strong numbers across both Jumping Seat and Western to secure the team result. The Hornets built early separation in Fences and Flat, then closed out the meet with steady rides in Horsemanship and Reining.
DSU opened the day with a 4–1 result in Fences.
Kendall Very delivered the event's top ride, earning MOP honors with an 85 on Cici.
Grace Mangrum added a point with a 70 on Elton, while
Melissa Acker (83 on Lewy) and
Lily Kosal (79 on Caruso) also secured wins. The Hornets held a narrow 357–354 edge in raw scoring.
Delaware State continued its momentum in Flat, again taking the event 4–1. Very earned her second MOP of the meet with an 88 on Kevin, while
Hannah D'Aguilar (72 on Cooper),
Sarah Hoffmeyer (76 on Sandaro), and Kosal (86 on Dude) each added points. DSU outscored UMC 400–361 in the event, completing an 8–2 Jumping Seat performance with a combined 757–715 raw total.
Minnesota Crookston tightened the meet in Horsemanship, earning a 3–2 decision.
Claire Andrews (74 on Levi) and
Emily Firth (72 on Fudge) secured points for DSU, while the teams finished nearly even in raw scoring, 361.5–360.5 in favor of UMC.
Delaware State closed strong in Reining with a 3–1 win.
Anna Payne earned MOP honors after scoring a 72 on Wally, while Andrews added her second point of the day with a 69 on Lyle.
Cambrey Hedges contributed another with a 71.5 on Waldo. DSU posted a 343–268.5 raw advantage in the event and a 758.75–575.00 Western equivalency margin.
The Hornets finished the meet with a 13–6 team victory and a 1460.50–1345.00 raw score advantage to secure their first win of the 2025–26 campaign.
