Brookings, SD — The Delaware State University equestrian team turned in one of its stronger performances of the season, tying the Jumping Seat competition and posting higher raw scores in three events during the match up with Texas Christian University.
Delaware State secured a 2-2 tie in Fences. Melisa Acker (80 on Sunday) and
Kendall Very (73 on Charlie) earned the team its first two point of the event. The Hornets ended this round with a 44-point raw score advantage.
In Flat, Texas Christian University and Delaware State University split the event 2-2.
Lily Kosal earned a point with a 73 on Hazel, while
Kendall Very collected her second point of the match after posting an 85 on Chase.
Sarah Hoffmeyer earned Delaware State's highest Flat score with an 89 on Elton. Delaware State held a 612.0 to 480.0 raw score edge for Jumping Seat totals.
Texas Christian defeated Delaware State 3-0 in Reining.
Claire Andrews led the Hornets with a team-high score of 75 aboard Lewis, while Madison Wojeck added a 71 on Chip, matching TCU's Sydney Feager in the event.
In Reining, Delaware State trailed 1-2.
Estella Estus earned the team's lone point with 68 on Poppy. Madison Wojeck contributed a notable performance with a 70 on Bullitt. The Hornets ended the event with a slight raw edge, 278.5-276.0.
Despite holding a higher raw score, 1161.5-1045.5, Delaware State lost 9-5 to Texas Christian. Next up, the Hornets will face the Skyhawks of University of Tennessee at Martin.
