BALTIMORE, MD – The Delaware State women's track and field team delivered an impressive performance at the Morgan State Legacy Meet, showcasing their talent and determination while securing multiple victories.
Final Results
Leading the charge was senior Annalise Bond, who continued her dominance in the pole vault by capturing her first win of the season with a height of 3.05 meters. The four-time MEAC Pole Vault champion and DSU school record holder proved once again why she is a standout athlete in the conference.
Freshman Aniyah Smith also made waves by clinching her third meet victory of the season. With her steady improvement and competitive spirit, Smith is establishing herself as a key player for the Hornets and promises to contribute significantly throughout the season.
The excitement didn't stop there; the Delaware State women's 4x400m relay team also took home first place. The team, comprised of Merasia Johnson, Kahlia Smith, Dominique Clement, and Miriam Okwudibonye, crossed the finish line in 3:53.60, showcasing their speed and teamwork.
Kassidy Willey claimed 2nd in Pole Vault with a height of 2.75m, while Valerie Ashamu continued to impress by finishing 2nd in the High Jump with her jump of 5'6".
Merasia Johnson made her mark in the 800m run, finishing 4th with a time of 2:16.17, which is now the #5 fastest time in DSU history. Following close behind was Layla James, who finished 5th in the same event with a time of 2:17.88.
In the field events, Kirja Hickman set a new school record in the Discus with an impressive throw of 40.92m, earning her a spot in the record books for the best throw in DSU history! Cyenna Martinez also shone in the Discus, finishing 6th with a throw of 39.01m, marking the #4 best throw in DSU history.
