TOWSON, MD -- The Delaware State Hornets continued their season at the Towson Invitational on March 28th-29th.
The Towson Invite was highlighted by Aniyah Smith first place finish and multiple top 10 finishes from the Hornets.Â
On the Women side, Aniyah Smith kicked off the Towson Invite for the Hornets in the Javelin. Smith took first place with a 38.41 meter mark, ranking #2 in DSU history. Sanaa Virgil continued the Hornets success in the field events, taking third place in the Triple Jump with a final mark of 11.79m. Virgil currently hold the #2 jump in DSU history. Sierra Passee stride through the competition to take third place in 100m Hurdles with a final time of 14.59.Â
In the shot put event, Kirja Hickman earned herself a 4th place finish with a throw of 12.20 meters. Hickman's consistency and strength have been invaluable to the team, and her performance today is a testament to her hard work in training.
Joy Taiwo also made headlines with her strong showing in the 100m hurdles, clocking in at 14.68 seconds to secure 4th place. Taiwo's powerful start and fierce competitive spirit reflect her dedication to the sport, making her a formidable competitor for the remainder of the season.
Dominique Clement put forth a commendable effort of her own, finishing 5th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.74 seconds, just behind her teammate Taiwo. The two women demonstrated the depth of talent in DSU's hurdle squad, showing that they can push each other to reach new heights.Â
The highlight of the day came during the 4x400m relay, where the formidable team of Nia Vaughan, Kahlia Smith, Dominique Clement, and Merasia Johnson clinched 3rd place to close the tournament for the Hornets
