PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA --Four pitchers combined to throw a shutout on Tuesday as the Villanova Wildcats blanked the Delaware State Hornets 12-0.
Sophomore Drew Brady (0-1) got the ball to start for Delaware State (3-16) and took the loss.
At the plate, the Hornets were led by senior Sebastian Paz, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double. Sophomore A. Rodriguez put together a standout performance as well, going 1-for-3 with a double. Freshman Brandon Boyd also contributed for Delaware State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Delaware State did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Hornets went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the seventh, when Boyd made it into scoring position with two outs.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
» Delaware State pitchers faced 36 Villanova hitters in the game, allowing six ground balls and 10 fly balls while striking out one.
» Paz led the Hornets at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double.
