New York, NY -- The Hornet Women's Track and Field program continued their season on Friday, January 31st, dominating in the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Open
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights Open Invitational was highlighted by stellar performances from Amber Pelle and Sierra Passee, Joy Taiwo, Nia Vaughan, and Mecca Jackson.
Final Results
On the women's side, Amber Pelle led the way for the Hornets, taking first place in the Weight Throw with a 15.72-meter mark. Pelle currently holds the school record for the weight throw toss. Sierra Passee, Joy Taiwo, Nia Vaughan, and Mecca Jackson added to the Hornets' success, striving for first in the 4x200m Relay.
The Hornet's momentum continued in the invitational; Sierra Passee took third in the 60m dash with a personal record of 7.69 seconds. Merasia Johnson solidified her way into school history, earning the third rank time of 2:17.52 to take second place in the 800m run. Followed by Miriam Okwudibonye, Merasia Johnson, Kahlia Smith, and Layla James' second-place finish in the 4x400 Relay to close the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Open for the Hornets.
