PHILADELPHIA - Delaware State women's tennis won their first dual match of the spring season on Friday, taking down the Saint Joseph's University Hawks 5-2.

The Hornets took the doubles point, and they nearly swept all three matches. Lucia Casas Blas and Kit Yi Kaye Au-Yeung won their doubles matchup 6-3. Brooklyn Bowen and Eva Golembiovski triumphed over their opponents 6-4. Camilla Mitolo and Victoria Linkovski put up a strong fight in a 7-5 defeat.

Meanwhile, in singles, Delaware State won four of six matches over the Hawks. Besides their doubles win, Casas Blas and Au-Yeung took down their singles opponents as well. Casas Blas posted 6-4, 6-3. Au-Yeung had 6-4, 7-6 (3). Linkovski picked up her first win of the season in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Bowen went down 7-5 before coming back 6-4. She would win the tiebreaker 16-14 to capture the point for Delaware State.

Overall, it was a 5-2 victory for the Hornets.

The Hornets play their home opener tomorrow, Saturday, March 1. They will welcome the Binghamton University Bearcats at 3 p.m.
