NORFOLK, VA -- On February 23rd-24th, the DSU Men's and Women's Track & Field Program competed in the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Championship.
On the women's side, Freshman Valerie Ashamu kicked off the MEAC Championship for the Hornets sweeping the competition in the High Jump. Ashamu marked a personal record of 1.69m 5.7. Annalise Bond continued the Hornets momentum taking second place in the Pole Vault with a 3. 10 mark. Followed by a excelling performance by Kirja Hickman, she took third place in the Shot Put to solidified her way into Hornet history as the third highest mark of 12.86m. Kahlia Smith, Merasia Johnson, Dominique Clement, Miriam Okwudibonye, Dominique Clement took third place in the 4x400m Relay with a final time of 3:49.59 to close the championship for the Hornets.Â
