DOVER, DE --Four Delaware State players collected at least two hits, but the Hornets fell to the Howard Bison 6-4 Saturday.
Freshman Kristin White took the loss in the circle for Delaware State ( 10-17, ). Freshman Annalise Santana led the Hornets, amassing three base knocks in the ballgame. Delaware State's highest scoring inning was the fourth, when it pushed two runs across. Senior Felicity Munoz stole two bases in Saturday's game. The Hornets swiped six bases as a team. Santana led the Hornets at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Howard was led offensively by sophomore M. Jordan, who went 4-for-4 with a double. Sophomore J. Holt led the Bison pitching staff, throwing one shutout inning.
GAME 2 | Howard 14, Delaware State 1
DOVER, DE --Sophomore Chandler Martin went 1-for-2 with a home run and an RBI for the Delaware State Hornets in a 14-1 loss to the Howard Bison on Saturday.
Senior Mayanah Mclntosh took the loss in the circle for Delaware State ( 10-18, ). Delaware State's highest scoring inning was the fourth, when it pushed one run across.
Delaware State pitchers faced 36 Howard hitters in the game, allowing zero ground balls and zero fly balls while striking out two. Howard was led offensively by freshman B. Finley, who went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Junior J. King led the Bison pitching staff, throwing five innings of one-run ball.
