NEWARK, Delaware --Senior Kendall Shank and junior Graceyn Frost combined to throw a shutout on Wednesday as the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens blanked the Delaware State Hornets 8-0.
Senior Yurcaba (2-9) got the ball to start for Delaware State (10-21) and took the loss.
In the batter's box, the Hornets were led by senior Hailey Ramberg, who went 1-for-2 on the day. Delaware State managed one chance with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 1-for-3 with runners in scoring position. The Hornets last got a runner on third in the fifth, when freshman Santana made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out. Delaware was led offensively by sophomore Sydney Shaffer, who went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple. Shank led the Fightin' Blue Hens pitching staff, throwing four shutout innings.
