GAME 1 | Georgian Court 5, Delaware State 1

LAKEWOOD, NJ --Senior U. Modrego-L racked up three hits, but the Delaware State Hornets fell to the Georgian Court Lions 5-1 Saturday.

Senior Makenzie Yurcaba (1-3) started and took the loss in the circle for Delaware State (5-6).

Modrego-L's three-hit day led the Hornets offensively. Sophomore M. Francois put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hornets got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Modrego-L came across to score the lone run of the inning for Delaware State and get them on the board. The Hornets were unable to hold the lead, as Georgian Court scored five times over the remaining six innings to grab the 5-1 win. Delaware State pitchers limited Georgian Court to just 2-for-12 (.167) with runners in scoring position. Georgian Court was led offensively by senior K. Stufft, who went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBI. Sophomore J. Blaszka led the Lions pitching staff, throwing seven innings of one-run ball.
