Dover -- Uxua Modrego Lopez hit a two-run home run to deep right field, while Kristin White tossed a complete game one to lead Delaware State to a doubleheader sweep of Thomas Jefferson Tuesday afternoon. The Hornets won the opener 1-0 and completed the sweep with a 4-2 victory in game two.

In game one, Emma Crowe doubled to right field, scoring Annalise Santana. 

The Delaware State defense kept the Rams scoreless in game one. Kristin White picked up the win for the Hornets. Pitching seven innings, allowing fit hits, no runs, and striking out five. 

In the late afternoon, Uxua Modrego Lopez was two-for-three with two RBI, and Kayla Lester also had two hits in three at-bats, while driving in one to lead the Hornets.

Delaware State opened the scoring when Kayla Lester singled in a run in the bottom of the third, and opened up a 1-0 lead. Modrego Lopez homered with one on base to give DSU a 3-0 lead in the third inning.

Mikaela Francois singled a run in the bottom of the fifth to close out the scoring for the Hornets.

Mayanah McIntosh pitched four innings, allowing just five hits and one run, while striking out one to earn the win.

The Hornets (3-2) will host St. Peter's in a three-game series starting Saturday, March 2. The first pitch is set for 11:00 p.m.
