Hodge of Women's Tennis Wins USTA Coach of the Year

PURCHASE, N.Y. - Women's tennis head coach Joseph Hodge has been announced as the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Delaware District College Coach of the Year.

Hodge, along with the other award winners, will be honored at the USTA Annual Awards Ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. followed by brunch.

Hodge has been Delaware State's head women's tennis coach since Jan. 2024. In the spring, the Hornets defeated Coppin State and Howard in the MEAC Tournament before falling to South Carolina State. Delaware State finished second in the tournament, and Klaudija Lisovska and Daria Jula were named to the All-Tournament Team. So far in the 2024-25 season, the Hornets came in first place in doubles in mid-September at the HBCU National Tournament in Atlanta, Ga.

Hodge's impact on Delaware tennis includes being the former boy's head coach at the Greenville Country Club and at Wilmington Friends.

He has also served the community through his work at RodneyStreet, a non-profit organization, and Tennis Rocks, an after-school program, both of which bring tennis to youth.

Hodge earned a B.A. in Music from the University of Virginia in 2009, a master's in Music in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Hartford's Hartt School of Music in 2012, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Orchestral Conducting from Michigan State University in 2021.
