DOVER, DE --The Delaware State women's basketball team got a 16-point showing from the bench, but fell 76-45 to the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks at home Saturday.
Noami Zulueta led the Hornets (5-10, 1-1) with six points and seven rebounds. Savannah Brooks tacked on eight points and Kaitlyn Parker chipped in as well with six points and two steals off of the bench.
McKenzie Stewart pulled down three offensive rebounds to lead an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for Delaware State, grabbing 12 boards and turning them into 11 second chance points.
Delaware State forced 14 Maryland-Eastern Shore turnovers. The Hornets turned those takeaways into 19 points on the other end of the floor. Parker's two steals led the way for Delaware State.

Delaware State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 25-8 at the end of the first quarter.
The Hornets continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 46-17 halftime deficit.
Delaware State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Hornets faced a 63-23 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Delaware State played well near the basket, scoring four of its six points in the paint.
Delaware State kept the Hawks from increasing their lead before going on an 8-0 run to shrink the deficit to 68-36 with 4:04 to go in the contest. The Hornets kept their comeback going, but Maryland-Eastern Shore managed to hold on for the 76-45 win. Delaware State fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 22 points. The Delaware State defense forced 14 turnovers. Delaware State cleaned up on the offensive glass, collecting 12 offensive boards in the game.
