Dover, Del. (May 8, 2023) --- The Delaware State women's golf team has moved up to second place after two rounds of the 2023 PGA Works Championship at Bent Brook Golf Course in Bessemer, Ala., today. The Hornets posted a combined score of 312 (+24) today for a two-round total of 609 (+37), trailing only first place Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, the defending tournament champ. TAMCC has a score of 589 (+17) after two days of the tournament. Delaware State was third in the standings behind Texas A&M -Corpus Christi and Howard University after day one, but the Hornets were eight strokes better than Howard today to overtake the Bison for second place in the 11-team field.

Individually, Delaware State's
Amber Pennington posted the second-best score in the 55-player field with a total of 74 today (+2) to rise to a tie for sixth in the standings with a two-day total of 152 (+9). Pennington was 24
th after the opening round. Lucia Ramirez of Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, the overall leader, was the only player with a better second round score than Pennington. Ramirez tallied 73 today (+1) for a two-day total of 143 (E).
Three other Hornets are also in the top 10 of the individual standings. Anna Ferreyra-Heit rose four places to also sit in a tie for sixth about a second-round score of 78 (+9) today. Delaware State's

Claudia Hofmeister are tied for 10
th at 153 (+10) after two rounds.
